The GSPAA has selected Josh Banks to be the new Executive Director of the organization effective immediately.

Banks was a long time Green Hornet, participating in multiple sports while growing up in Severna Park. He is a 2000 graduate of Severna Park High School, where he starred on the baseball team, playing for previous GSPAA Executive Director, Jim McCandless. Banks was also an All-State wide receiver on the football team and was recently elected to the SPHS Hall of Fame. Banks attended Florida International University on a baseball scholarship majoring in Business Management and Sports Management. He was drafted in 2003 in the second round by the Toronto Blue Jays and pitched in 27 Major League games over 4 seasons.

The GSPAA is the premier youth sports organization in the region, starting with a single sport in 1949 and now enrolling over 6,000 youth athletes in 13 different sports annually.

Banks, who will start his duties immediately, commented, “My development as an athlete and a person benefited greatly from the coaching and mentoring I received in GSPAA activities. I am thrilled about being able to give back to the community by enhancing the opportunities for future generations of kids. I look forward to working with the coaches, commissioners and families who make GSPAA so successful.”
